Ask from any page

Press Ask MeritAI (or Ctrl J) and the conversation opens next to the page you're on. The page stays in view and updates as you answer.

  • "Priya is resigning, her last day is Friday 9 Oct": a checklist with official links, then one question to update the register.
  • Buttons on a page (Interview kit, Draft the letter) continue the right conversation.

Screen applications fairly

MeritAI drafts screening criteria from the job description. You confirm them, then every application is assessed on its own, blind, and ranked by rules.

  • No names, photos, ages or addresses in the assessment.
  • Criteria about age, gender, family or similar are refused.
  • You decide: Shortlist or Not this time.

A new job in a minute

Start from 35 common roles in 10 industries, search by any name ("chef", "sparky"), and make it yours. The job description on the right follows what you choose.

  • The likely award is shown as a hint to confirm. MeritAI never works out pay.
  • Or upload your own job description, or write it with MeritAI.

Know what's due

Probation reviews, contracts ending, visas expiring and paperwork not yet recorded are worked out from your register every time you open MeritAI, each with the official rule behind it.

  • Ask "What do I need to do this week?"
  • Open the employee and record the documents in a few clicks.

Answers you can check

Questions about the law are looked up on official sites, in a separate step that never sees your staff's details. Links it didn't verify are flagged.

  • Every answer shows its sources.
  • Pay: if a reply does arithmetic, it's flagged, pointing you to the Fair Work Pay and Conditions Tool.

Emails you send yourself

Ask for an email (an offer with the contract, an interview invite, a letter) and MeritAI saves a draft with the files attached. Open in email app opens it in Outlook or your mail app, ready to check and send.

  • MeritAI never sends anything on its own.
  • New files are marked in Files, so you can find them.

Talk it through

Use the microphone, in Conversations or in the side panel on any page, and talk as you would on the phone. The screen follows the conversation, and a change that needs your OK waits there: say "yes" or press the button.

  • Uses your own OpenAI API key, about US$0.05 a minute.
  • Settings shows your usage by day, month and all time, with an optional monthly limit.

English or 中文

Switch the app and the adviser's replies to Chinese in Settings. Letters, contracts, emails and job descriptions stay in English, as Australian workplaces need.

  • Dates and reminders are translated too; the legal checklists keep their official English, with links.
  • Names, job titles and file names stay as they are.

Three steps, about five minutes

1Install

Download MeritAI-Setup.exe and run it. The alpha isn't signed yet, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC": choose More info, then Run anyway. The first start downloads the AI engine (159 MB) once.

2Sign in with ChatGPT

MeritAI uses your ChatGPT account for the adviser. Voice is optional and needs an OpenAI API key, added in Settings.

3Try the sample business

Choose Try it with a sample business to look around with made-up staff and applicants, or set up your own business in a few questions.

What MeritAI keeps

  • A workspace folder you choose: Inbox, Outbox, Jobs, Policies, the business profile and the staff register.
  • Your sign-in, memory and conversations in your own app data. Conversations are deleted after 30 days.
  • The staff register and hiring records, encrypted for your Windows account on this computer.
  • The voice key, encrypted for your Windows account; only its last 4 characters are ever shown.

What it refuses

  • TFNs, bank details, dates of birth, home addresses and health information are refused by the register.
  • Screening never sees names, photos, ages or addresses.
  • It doesn't give legal advice: decision letters are marked DRAFT, with a reminder to check with an adviser or the Fair Work Infoline (13 13 94).
